Phase 1 of the BT2 is now complete

If Your Doctor Doesn't Know Your Vital Signs, He Doesn't Know You.

We are proud to announce completion of Phase 1 development of the BT2, the world’s only Bluetooth vital signs wristwatch for 24/7 human diagnostics. The BT2 is unique in that it features:

  • All-in-one design to monitor all critical vital signs 24/7 from the wrist with absolutely no cables, straps or electrodes.
  • First ever Bluetooth biosensor wristwatch to send alerts via cell phone or internet.
  • First ever wristwatch device to detect anxiety, depression and other emotional side effects of drugs.
  • Online care giver account with up to 350 kinds of configuration for alerts by SMS, email or IM to guarantee no false alarms.

The BT2 is the only wristwatch that can simultaneously, non-invasively, continuously and accurately detect with infrared and tiny metallic sensors from a fully moving wrist: heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, skin conductance and relative movement.

Goodbye chest strap! Goodbye messy cables and electrodes!

The BT2 wristwatch can detect heart rate and other vital signs with no chest strap, electrodes or finger contract. It uses infrared light emitting diodes (LEDs) aligned along the wrist to measure blood volume pulse (BVP). This technique, which is also called photoplethysmography, sends an infrared beam that bounces back against the skin surface. The reflected light is measured and BVP is detected from the calculations. Using these measures, we can detect features such as heart rate (and subsequently heart rate variability), vascular dilations, and vasoconstriction. So, while ECG requires two skin contacts on opposite sides of the heart - say, with a chest strap - BVP can be gathered from the bottom of a watch.

All-in-one human diagnostics 24/7.

In addition to highly accurate heart rate and heart rate variability, the BT2 wristwatch is capable of simultaneously monitoring skin conductance, skin temperature, and relative movement. This data gives care givers a more complete picture of the wearer's overall physical and emotional states. Thanks to these multiple streams of data, the BT2 can better predict physiological problems and transmit alerts when necessary. Although the BT2 does feature a simple panic button, its sensor technology is designed to spot and respond to dangers before they become emergencies. The BT2 will give caregivers better, real-time information while simultaneously eliminating unnecessary hospital visits.

Comfortable, sleek form factor.

The BT2 wristwatch is comparable in size to a Garmin 205 GPS wristwatch. It comes with an adjustable, hypoallergenic, breathable strap appropriate for all sizes. Its sensors require no special maintenance and are soft on the skin. The BT2 wristwatch comes with a simply plug-in battery charger and a large on/off/panic switch. The production BT2 wristwatch will feature 18 hour continuous battery life, Flash memory to store a full day of data, onboard digital signal processing, and an OLED display to show time/date, physiological alerts and battery life. The BT2 will connect to any Windows Mobile cell phone or online Windows PC for the purpose of sending emergency alerts.

Software that Knows How You Feel.

Each BT2 wristwatch comes with Control Panel software that can run on Windows XP/Vista or on a Windows Mobile smartphone. From the BT2 Control Panel for Windows, you can graph, save, and export real-time waveform or composite physiological data for each sensor on the BT2. You can also manually take a reading or send an alert. The Control Panel enables you to see the BT2's Emotional Interpretation Engine (EIE) in action. The new EIE is designed to reduce classification ambiguity using fuzzy evidence, to be highly robust to imprecise, conflicting, and missing information, and to make use of previously classified physiological-emotional state information to adapt its own rule set. In plain English: The new BT2 EIE is smart enough to use your physiological information to learn and to fill in unknown areas using physiological information from your history and the histories of others like you.

Automated Continuous Monitoring.

The BT2 Control Panel will run silently from your Windows or Smartphone taskbar in reporter mode. In reporter mode, the software checks your physiological and emotional data for dangerous situations and sends status updates and alerts to the website automatically. When you click on the BT2 icon in the icon tray, you shift from automatic (reporter) mode into interactive mode using the BT2 Control Panel.

Configurability and Peace of Mind.

From the BT2 user website, you can monitor anyone’s physiological and emotional data from anywhere in the world. You can also view their readings and alerts history. Using the website, you can view, at-a-glance, the most recent readings and alerts for any of your other BT2 wristwatches.
